Birth Suite Birth
What is a "birth suite"?
A birth suite in Utah is a free standing birth facility meaning it is not attached to a hospital. Birth suites are usually located a mile or less away from a hospital.
Who might want to birth at a birth suite?
A woman who does not feel comfortable giving birth in her home for reasons such as living with family, living in a small apartment, wanting peace from young children, or she feels her home is too far away from the hospital. She gets the benefits of indivualized midwifery care in a clean and comfortable enviroment where she can completely relax.
Does a birth suite birth cost the same amount as a homebirth?
No, there is an additional facility fee in order to be able to use the birth suite however this fee does include your birth kit.
Can I have a waterbirth at the birth suite?
Yes! I would encourage it.
Why are you not listed as a care provider on the different birth suite websites?
I am an independent contractor. This means that I have been given permission because of my safety record and state license to rent the facility for my clients use.
Will you be guaranteed to be my midwife if I birth at a birth suite?
Yes, I will still be your midwife. I do not belong to a group practice where you would rotate through the attending midwives.
What birth suites do you attend births at?
I attend births at The Birth Sweet located at 375 East Tabernacle in St. George Utah. I love that I can offer so many options to my clients to best help them have the birth they desire.
